According to the U.S. Department of Commerce's most recent Fact Sheet, there are 8 million minority-owned firms in the U.S., which is a 38% increase since 2007. As the following information shows, Hispanic-owned businesses were a big part of that growth:

In 2007 there were 2.26 million Hispanic-owned businesses in the U.S. with revenues of $350 billion.  The recent Fact Sheet shows that the number of Hispanic-owned firms grew to 3,305,873 with combined gross receipts of $473.6 billion.

The number of Hispanic-owned businesses is increasing at more than twice the rate of the national average.

The number of Hispanic-owned businesses has doubled since 2002, growing at more than twice the rate of the national average.

There are approximately 3.2 million Hispanic-owned businesses in the US, that combined, contribute in excess of $470 billion to the American economy every year.

The number of Hispanic-owned businesses with receipts of $1 million or more increased 51.6 percent — from 29,168 to 44,206 businesses between 2002 and 2007.

Hispanic-owned businesses comprised 23.6 percent of all businesses in New Mexico, highest among all states, followed by Florida (22.4 percent), Texas (20.7 percent), California (16.5 percent) and Arizona (10.7 percent).
